Inconsiderate and indiscrimate parking despite obvious "No Parking" indicators.

This is a regular weekly if not daily, inconvenience and frustrating situation at the corner of the HDB Car Park KB14 near the end of Block 71, Kallang Bahru where the popular NTUC Fairprice Supermarket is located (see attached below).

 

 

 

Our office is at 535, Kallang Bahru, GB Point (the former Mandarin Theatre) and our car park and loading bays are located at the back of the building with access only via the HDB Car Park KB14.  On an almost daily basis, we get vehicles, both private salon cars and commercial goods vehicles parking right at the end of Blk 71, smacked across the access road to the back of 535, Kallang Bahru, GB Point (marked in yellow in attached map).

Do these drivers really think just before they decide that this is the correct place to leave their vehicles?  Do they notice the double yellow lines clearly marked on the sides of the road?  Did they notice that there is an access road leading to another building that by leaving their vehicles, this will mean now "no access"!  Of course these drivers eventually returned to their vehicles with, by then, irate drivers like myself fuming mad.  Especially so when we have got to get to another place quickly and obviously not able to now by the discourtesy of these inconsiderate drivers.  Two of the drivers from the vehicles in these photos actually left their vehicles there so as to get their lunches from the popular Geylang Bahru Market Food Centre.  Their Singapore stomachs comes first obviously.

If you look at the attached map carefully, this location is barely 50-70 metres away from the Moulmein-Kallang Town Council Head Office!!!  Even they who ought to have an interest it such happenings just under their noses, have not noticed this!  Why do we pay maintenance and taxes for?  :-( :-(

BMW Reg No. SJG 3401 B

Somewhere in hot sunny Singapore yesterday, Thursday 22 Oct 2009, along one of our many narrow roads, this dark 3 Series BMW was found parked inconsiderately causing an already narrow road to get even more narrower! More over, it was left next to a road side fire hydrant, near enough to incur the wrath of the law so it seems!! See 2nd photo.

Maybe the driver suffers from colour blindness and is not able to see the colour RED or has a memory block with shapes like hydrants, etc. I wondered if the driver thought of the possibility should their car is on fire and the Fire Engine can't get to the vehicle or hydrant because the road was blocked! Hmmmm, so I wondered.
Who really knows? What caused the driver to do what they did. Only they themselves can really tell. Or can they?

Or was it just another mindless act of doing without thinking? Positively, could be. Or possibily maybe it is another one of those plain just "who cares about other people, I am more important" sort of character or rather , lack of character.

Do Idiots Think?

This Blog was created today 18 Sept 2009 dedicated to (for) all the people out there who may have come acrossed some incident or something recently that baffles you, causing you to scream or shout (almost always silently) "why on earth would someone do something as silly as that!" These perpetrators are highly likely to have contributed to these incidents while in their state of thoughtlessness, selfishness, mindlessness or probably the main reason, without thinking! Thereby causing inconveniences to others or even worse, endangering other peoples lives!

Everyday, there are plenty of these happening around us for example, on the roads, car drivers, cars in queues at traffic lights/jams, building lifts/escalators, office lunch time crowd at food courts, young children and their parents in restaurants, etc. You would not need to scratch your head to think of an incident that really annoyed you like that. It's happening everyday, believe you me and I wanted the chance to speak out and let people know that I am annoyed by their silly actions! This is it!

Then they will no longer be labelled an idiot and join this "crusade" to eradicate social un-civil mindedness here. :-)
